Privacy Policy
We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your data. This policy outlines how we handle your information.
Data Handling & Anonymity
At PhotonShell, we believe your code and conversations are private. We do not log the content of the messages you send.
When you use our AI services, your requests are relayed anonymously to our inference providers. We act as a passthrough to ensure your identity remains protected from third-party model providers.
Usage & Billing
To manage user quotas and facilitate accurate billing, we strictly log metadata related to consumption. This includes:
- Token Usage: The number of tokens processed for each request.
- Credit Usage: The cost associated with the inference.
This data is used solely for the purpose of calculating your usage against your subscription plan and preventing abuse of the platform.
Inference Providers
We carefully select our third-party inference providers based on their privacy standards.
- Minimal Logging: We choose providers that agree to log minimally or not at all.
- No Retention: Providers are selected on the basis that they do not keep prompts and outputs logged for prolonged periods of time.
Currently, our providers do not log your data. However, as the AI landscape evolves, future models from certain providers might require some level of logging. If we integrate such models, we will make this explicitly visible to you so you can make informed decisions about which models to use.
User Accounts & Authentication
We use Clerk as our authentication and billing provider. We track user logins to:
- Validate your identity.
- Verify your subscription status.
- Enforce billing limits.
Your payment details are handled securely by Stripe (via Clerk) and are never stored on our servers.
Analytics & Improvements
We reserve the right to associate usage metrics with timing data. This allows us to:
- Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve system performance.
- Provide you with visual dashboards and insights into your own usage history in the future.
